Baby having diarrhoea, vomitting, no fever. On antibiotics. Suggestions?
hi doc. i m from indonesia. i have a 8th months baby (9kg) who has entamoeba histolitica. it has been going on for more than 2 weeks now. she has no fever, but she has 5-7 diarrhea per day and this 2 days follow by vomiting . she was taking flagyl (antibiotic) but because she vomited (mild) blood last week the local pediatrician gave her neo prodiar (another antibiotic). please advice.

Thanks for your query.
I suggest you to continue with antibiotic as advised by your pediatrician.
You should also give some probiotic for 3 to 4 days,give oral rehydration solution sip by sip after each loose stools.give coconut water,curd,banana,boiled potato.
Your baby will be fine.

Thank you for your query,
Give oral rehydrating solutions sips by sips to prevent dehydration and try to maintain hydration.
Consult your Pediatrician again as she is having vomiting and requires anti emetic such as domperidone and requires further assessment.
And continue the same medication as advised by your doctor till you visit him.
