Hello, and I hope I can help you today.
If you were sterilized and have an IUD coil in place there is no way you could be pregnant. The
hormonal coil, or IUD, causes most women to stop having regular periods however it still provides reliable
contraception for up to 5 years.
Pregnancy symptoms vary widely between women and many of the same symptoms we commonly associate with pregnancy list breast tenderness,
bloating, weight gain, urinary frequency,
headaches and nausea can be caused by irregular hormones as well as pregnancy. In addition, these side effects can also be caused by the coil.
So to ease your peace of mind, you could always perform an over-the-counter pregnancy test. Modern pregnancy tests are extremely reliable and will become positive between 10 days an 2 weeks after conception.
I hope I was able to adequately answer your question today and that my advice was reassuring.
Best wishes,
Dr. Brown
