Are There Good Chances Of Recovery After An Open Heart Surgery While Suffering From Diabetes?

My husband was admitted today with afib. The Dr said the top of his heart was racing to fast and the bottom could not catch up. He has had open heart surgery and apacemaker since October of last year. he is 82 and diabetic. Are his chances of recovery good?
