Are There Any Side Effects Of Withdrawal From Effexor?

I would like to wean off effexor 150mg daily and clonazepam .50 mg once daily and also risperidone 3mg twice daily and switch to passionflower extract a natural supplement, read about antipsychotics depleting brain tissue in thousands of people? How should I go about this? I would like to wean off slowly as last time I tried I got terrible headaches, oh and I also take procyclidine 2.5 mg twice daily too for side effects? Many thanks for your kind input I truly appreciate it. Angela Cameron

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hi Angela. I would strongly advise you to discuss weaning off these medicines with your doctor before doing so. These are strong medicines and very careful tapering needs to be done with them to avoid serious withdrawal symptoms and other side effects. It should always be done in conjunction with your doctor. I would also be concerned about you substituting just passionflower extract for these medicines. I don't know your case and I understand your concern about the side effects. However, the extract may not be adequate for your needs. That is why it is so important to discuss this with your doctor before making any changes. Talk to him/her about your concerns about side effects. S/he may be able to prescribe other effective medicines. Hope this helps.
