Are The Spasms After Button Turp Due To Catheter? Can I Remove It?

Hello, I have just had a button turp 1/30/12. My Dr left town and am due to see his PA this friday. I wanted to leave the cathetor in til then but am having hard pains like i have to void and cant, then it subsides and then happens again when i stand . The DR. said it was a spasm in the bladder. Could it be the cathetor? If so I thought about removing it early.as the pain is getting worse. I was told how to remove it. can you help?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this pain post TURP. Please, I will strongly discourage you fro manipulating this catheter all by yourself. If the pains are so severe and you cannot get the PA earlier, consider going to the nearest health facility for evaluation. This is a delicate surgical procedure and we should not take chances messing up after it.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thank you so much for using our services and feel free to ask for more information and clarification if need be.
I find this answer helpful
