Are Swelling And Pain In The Knee Normal Post Knee Surgery?
I had surgery on my knee torn meniscus 4 weeks ago. It was doing well and I was able to walk on it. But in the last week it has hurt really bad is swollen and warm to the touch. I have a ha d time walking on it as well. Is this normal after knee surgery?
Normally any inflammation & pain should get well in six months post-surgery. Keep your leg elevated on a pillow while on bed & on a stool when you are seated. You should stay in connection with your physiotherapist, Post operative exercises are helpful. Topical creams & patches applied to the knee effectively reduces pain. Continue to take the medications prescribed.
Swelling is a process of healing but if it becomes uncomfortable you should report to your treating doctor, it may be because of the weakening of the implant. You need follow-up treatment. Do not put undue stress on your knee.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
