Are Sleepiness And Fatigue Post A Bee Sting A Cause For Concern?

My daughter got stung by a bee by stepping on it it was alive she did not get the stinger out her foot swelled and then she fell asleep About 30 minutes later.... We soaked it in Epson salt and put a Benadryl cream on it. I'm a little concerned about her falling asleep just got tired pretty quickly. Should I be concerned?

Hi Dear ,

Welcome to HCM,

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have sleepiness and fatigue post a bee sting . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like allergic reaction to the toxic chemical released by the bee sting inside the skin. The symptoms can also because of infection due to honey bee sting.

But in your case the symptoms are probably due to allergic condition like anaphylaxis .Apply an ice pack to a bite or sting for 15 to 20 minutes once an hour for the first 6 hours. When not using ice, keep a cool, wet cloth on the bite or sting for up to 6 hours.

Consult general practitioner without any delay . Doctor may give adrenaline short .Always keep a cloth between your skin and the ice pack and along with him he should be given anti-allergic medicines like Benadryl or levocetrizine, anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
