My daughter is 39 years old with 3 children 7, 5 and 2. She works as a speech pathologist 3 days a week. She has been taking different anxiety meds since she was in college. She recently switched to Trintellic (sp?). She has been seen by a psychiatrict s assistant and was given this med. She stopped it because she is having muscle spasms in legs and arms at different times and she says it is painful. Also, she has perioidic chest pains which has been checked out at a hospital in the past year. She has started to have headaches also. She just had blood work done by her own insistence) for lupus. She is most worried about possibly having ALS. She is currently freaking out waiting for these results. Would you have any idea if ALS is a possibility for her pains? Sorry for the explanation being so long. Thanks.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
I passed carefully through your question and would explain that the muscle cramps could be related to trintellix adverse effects. I don't think that her symptoms are related to ALS. Anxiety could be the cause of her complaints. Anyway, nerve conduction studies would help exclude ALS and calm her anxiety.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
