Are Oral Antibiotics Effective In Treating MRSA Infection?

My daughter was just dI agnostic with MRSA and Serratia. She is currently being treated with oral Bactrim. She had MRSA not that long ago. Is it possible she never totally got rid of it and are oral antibiotics effective enough? Does she need more than one? Would IV antibiotics be more effective?

Hi,

The doctors need to test for antibiotic sensitivity test (gives a result on the third day) to check which antibiotic is the bacteria sensitive to. Therefore they can give antibiotics to which the bacteria is sensitive to. This will mostly cure MRSA infection.

Most probably the doctors would have done that and put her on Bactrim as it contains two strong antibiotics sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim.

Don't worry let her take the full course as recommended by doctors and she ll be fine.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
