Are Nausea, Abdominal Pain And Abnormal Bowel Movement Symptoms Of Diverticulitis?

I have all the symptoms from Diverticulitis nausea, abdominal pain on the left side, chills and a slight headache. I have had this before and I am only 36 yrs old. My bowl movements are green and mushy and smell horrible like an infection. Is this caused by the Diverticulitis?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi.

Yes it can be caused by diverticulitis. But I would either way recommend a stool analysis, to make sure you do not have an infection. This is standard procedure and helps narrow in on the diverticulitis and initiate treatment accordingly.

Best wishes.
