Are Itchy Hands Due To The Antibiotic Treatment For Diverticulitis?

I had a bout of diverticulitis last week. I stopped antibiotic treatment yesterday because I was unsure what was all of a sudden causing really bad itchy hands - palms and tops, then some other areas of body. No contact dermatitis - nothing different. Let up during today and now I have cortisone all over my hands, which does help. My diabetes type 2 under pretty good control. No issues there. Driving me nuts. All of my past and recent labs have been okay.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello, my name is Dr.Dorina Gurabardhi.
I understand your concern.
Your symptoms seems to be related to an allergic reaction.
Some advices that I can give to you are :
-Take antihistamines
-Take decongestants if you have any problems with breathing
-Use hydrocortisone creams
Allergic reactions can vary from person to person and depend on the type of allergy. Go to the emergency room if you're experiencing anaphylaxis(difficult in breathing ), even if the symptoms get better.
Hope my answer was helpful, if you have any other questions I'll be glad to help.
Kindly regards,
Dr.Dorina Gurabardhi
