Are Intermittent Fever, Cough, Sinus Congestion And Sore Throat Signs Of Flu?

I developed a fever on Monday of this week. Tuesday it was 101 all day. Weds it was 100 all day. Since then, it has lowered, but starting in the afternoons about 4-5 pm, I get a fever of about 100 which lasts all evening. It is gone when I wake in the morning. When I had the initial fevers I had no strength and my skin hurt. Now my skin feels hot. I also have bad sinus congestion, a horrible cough (coughed 5 hrs last night), wicked sore throat and headache. When I eat I m getting immediate GERD. It is Saturday and I am sick and tired of feeling crummy. Flu, right?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms that you are experiencing are of Acute pharyngitis complicating to Respiratory tract infection with fever.

You are suggested to visit a GP & get clinically examined. You will have to get throat swab & sputum examination done. Get chest X-Ray & if required CT scan done.

You will be treated with analgesics, antibiotics, antivirals depending upon the severity of the infection detected. Gargle with warm saline water 2-3 times a day & take semi solid food (oats, porridge, etc).

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Nupur K, General & Family Physician
