Are High Fever And Chills Due To Viral Meningitis?

I have been hospitalized twice with the same symptoms. Once in September for 5 days and just was released from being in ICU for 5 days. Starts as sudden high fever and shakes, all tests come back negative. It was believed to be a viral meningitis, HRV came back negative. Head and abdomen were scanned by MRI and Cat. All labs negative. I was given four antibiotics and an antiviral drug. Doctors are not certain what is causing my condition.

Hi
Thanks for trusting HealthCare magic for your health problems.

In viral meningitis there is neck rigidity, that means you feel difficulty in neck movements along with high fever.
But yes viral infection somewhere in the body is definitely there causing fever with chills.
Your doctor prescribed you antibiotics and antivirals, so no need to add further drugs. It will take 5-7 days to completely remove the infection.
Till then do tepid sponging for high grade fever.
