Are Fatigue, Leg Pain And Cold Feet Signs Of Hashimoto S Disease?

Hi. I was told I have a positive ANA with a speckled pattern. I believe the titer was 1:640. The doctor brought up lupus. I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. He also said my thyroid is inflamed. I suffer from some debilitating fatigue, legs that ache horribly at night, and variate between constant chilled feet and hands, and a sensation of pulsing heat. This has been going on for years. I m 42. I m female. Could this likely be hashimoto s or should I pursue a follow up with a rheumatologist about this potentially being lupus? Could the ANA simply be a false positive?

Hi,

Based on the history you have shared if thyroid seemed inflamed the right approach would have been to have thyroid profile and if deranged along with positive ANA must have been worked up with thyroid antibodies.

The symptoms you are experiencing can be due to Hashimoto's causing abnormalities in Thyroid levels as well as can be an underlying autoimmune disorder but thinking of lupus in the presence of an obvious sign seems less likely.

The symptoms can also be part of ehler danios but levels of B12 folic acid and D3 should be done to rule out any metabolic cause.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
