Are Elevated HCG Levels Post An Abortion A Cause For Concern?
I had a abortion 6 weeks ago. 2 days ago I went back to the clinic because my tests are still positive. They gave me a sonogram & said I had tissue so they gave me another procedure to remove the tissue. Now I m In the hospital for unrelated problems but my hcg level is 296 is that to high
Hello dear Understand your concern HCG level of 296 is high value. This contraction is seen in pregnancy of 3-5 weeks. You have some tissue inside called retention product or incomplete abortion that is the reason for high HCG level. Choriocarcinoma also be rule out. Incomplete abortion should be treated by surgical process like D & C or suction evacuation. Normally after 14 days of abortion USG should be done to confirm incomplete abortion. I think you do not have proper guidance regarding follow up. IF you did follow up it was be treated earlier. Hope this may help you Best regards Dr. Saagar
