Are Delayed Periods Normal After Taking I Pill?

I had sex a day before my usual periods and took ipill within 15hrs of having sex. There was however no sideffects of taking the pill. I did not have my periods. Pursuant to this, a week later I observed blood clots and brownish discharge not like the usual periods (this happened for three days). It has already been a month eversince I took the ipill but there is no signs of a proper bleeding yet. Also, it must be noted that there has been no change in my eating habits or urine frequency.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
I can understand your concern.
Emergency contraceptive pills like ipill containing levonorgestral have shown to produce irregularities in menstrual periods if used regularly.
I would suggest you use any other modes of contraception like condom or regular contraceptive pills(used for 21 days and gap of 7 days is given).
The problem you are facing is due to the ipill.once you follow a different mide of contraception, your menstrual cycles would get back to normal.
Thanks for choosing HCM.
Hope you are satusfied with the response.
