Are Dark Marks On The Arm Of A Diabetic A Concern?
I have dark marks on my left arm that looks like bruises. They are not sore at all and I noticed them about a month ago. I had my annual with my doctor on the 2nd of this month and she said she thought they could be coming from dehydration. I now have a new mark on the same arm since my recent doctor appt. All my blood work was good. I have type 2 diabetes, any thoughts?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
As per your case history you are having pityriasis versicolor, my treatment advice is -
1. Don't scratch the lesion as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply an antifungal cream like Clotrimazole cream on it.
3. Take a vitamin C supplement.
4. Other treatment options are oral Fluconazole, Itraconazole and Terbinafine taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
