Are Contraceptives Advisable For A Woman Leading Inactive Sexual Life?
hi.. i am 26 years old and married. i was diagnosed with minor pcos 3 months back and since then I have been on aldactone, dutagen, sugamet-mc and an oral contraceptive. I am not planning pregnancy right now and we are not so sexually active. I want to ask if there will be side effects of taking so many medicines, specially the contraeptive?
The contraceptive is the easiest to answer. Not generally many problems. It is recommended because the way it works is to take over ones hormonal level and fix it to a lower level. All the side effects (clot formation, fluid retention, etc) would be due to high levels of hormones. Frankly, if it hasnt worked, then it is entirely IRRELEVANT. The levels of hormones are high in PCOS by definition. The variation in them is a bigger amount than the hormones you are getting from the contraceptives if they did not work. If they did not work the hormones from PCOS remain sky high and the little extra of the pills by assumption didnt add or subtract much. ..... if they arent doing anything to change the PCOS, then thats the answer.
So, maybe dont waste your money on them.......
