Are Consistent Headaches After A Concussion A Matter Of Concern?

Hi, My 7 year old is epileptic on Tuesday she was head butted on the playground by another child and suffered a concussion. She has taken 5 falls after that due to her balance being off from the concussion. We have taken her to the ER and all test have come back negative no swelling or bleeding of the brain. But She has a consistent headache and has Just woken up with a fever of 101.4 and chills. Should I be concerned?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Head ache is quite common after a head injury and it will persist for few days. You can give him paracetamol or ibuprofen for pain. If severe pain persist or incase of vomiting or seizure, it is better to go for a repeat CT scan to rule out any later bleed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
