Are Cold, Cough, Headache And Green Mucus Symptoms Of Infection?

Hi, I have had a cold with cough and headache, now very thick, and sticky green mucus. How do I know if I have an infection that requires antibiotics or if I just have to let time pass to get over the cold? Also, sometimes after colds I will get a dizziness or labyrinthitis, is there anything I can do to head this off?

Hi,

Cough, cold, headache with green mucus is surely indicative of an active infection.
Hence I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Get the blood tests done.
Send the mucus for gram staining, culture and sensitivity.
CT scan of the sinuses will further confirm the diagnosis.
Blood tests may show raised White Cell Count.
I think a proper course of antibiotic, decongestants, anti-inflammatory should help you to get over the problems.
Also take Decongestant nasal drops, steam inhalation.
Take rest as it helps for early and complete recovery.
