Are Abnormal Taste In The Mouth, Inflamed Gums And Throat Indicative Of Sinusitis?

Hi I have high fever (goes up to 39.1C) for almost a month , accompanied by headache, mid and lower back pain, fatigue, depression and generally feeling very down. Nose is blocked, unless I take Clarinase. I have had surgery in the past for septum deviation . I ended up in ER for an injection to bring the temp down which it did, but a month later its all back. Have a horrible taste in my mouth. My gums and throat are also inflamed (in British , but living in Saudi Arabia at the moment. It s very dusty here and the ACs don t help. Do I have a sinus infection ? Oh I forgot mention my left eye is swelling at the bottom, like in conjunctivitis and is extremely painful especially when the eye is open and / or I go out. (Dusty environment here - I m sure that makes it worse.) I was given two courses of eye antibiotic drops for conjunctivitis recently but it s happening again. Thank you Asma

Hi..Can understand your concern..As per your query about abnormal taste in mouth, inflammed gums and throat is mainly due to gingivitis or periodontitis which is due to infection and inflammation of gums and due to this there is altered taste in mouth..As the flora of mouth is altered it can also lead to throat infection and cough cold or you may have got cold due to some change in climatic conditions.Nasal blockage and infection can be due to change in climate there or can be due to sinusitis and will be confirmed by an x ray .You shouldn't have to worry, need to take broad spectrum antibiotics like amoxicillin 500mg with metrogyl 400mg for 5 at least 5 days.(if you are not allergic to it)This will also cover your throat infection and cough. You also need to do steam inhalation do hot saline rinses to reduce inflammation of mouth and open the blocked nose .After this you also need to visit a dentist for oral examination and to get any treatment like scaling to be done.I hope the information helps you.Take care.
