Are Abdominal Cramps And Delayed Periods Symptoms Of Pregnancy?

Hi, my boyfriend and I had sex a day before ovulation and I bled a little bit. However I was fine the next time. Two weeks pass (now) and I'm feeling weird abdominal cramping and weird pains. I'm two days from my expected period. Should I be worried about being pregnant.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

According to your question, as you had unprotected intercourse one day before ovulation there is a possibility for pregnancy. Because after ejaculation the spermatozoa can be alive for around 12 to 24 hours, so if during that period ovum is released there is possibility of pregnancy. The abdominal cramps you are having could be part of premenstrual symptoms or could be due to early pregnancy also. If you do not get periods even 3 to 4 days of your expected date, better to go for urine pregnancy test once to rule out the possibility of pregnancy.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
