Hi . My child was coughing since 2-3 days.Just a day before she complained of earache also We consulted a paediatrician she suggested Pecef 100 ,and told the ear has also infected due to throat. The other medicines suggested by her are Bro -Zedex LS kids, Xyzal ( levocetrizine is the content). Then a combination of Ibugesic and paracetamol is also suggested. She mentioned that ear infection sometimes may take 2-3 weeks to cure . I hope the line of treatment is fine .

Hi,

As per your query you have symptoms of ear infection which seems to be due to eustachian tube pressure build up as it connects ear with the nasopharynx.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you do warm saline gargles and take steam twice a day. You should apply warm dry compresses to the external ear. You should consult ENT specialist once for proper diagnosis. The doctor may examine by otoscopic means to check the level of infection. The doctor may prescribe antibiotics amoxicillin at least for a week along with decongestants. Your course of treatment prescribed is correct. Avoid touching or pricking it with any sharp object and maintain the hygiene of the ear canal.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
