Are Requip And Mirepex The Same Drugs?

Yes, thank you. I have Restless Leg Syndrome and have been on Ropinole for a number of time with no problems. A friend told me that requip and Mirepex are the same. I know they both act in the same way and are dopamine, but are they actually the same drug? Judy

Dear Judy, Hi

Both the drugs are used in the treatment of Restless leg syndrome having a common mechanism of dopamine like action in the brain.

However they are not same.
Requip (Ropinrole) & Mirapex (Pramipexole) have a common mechanism of increasing the dopamine levels in the brain but chemically they are different.

Hope this answers your query.
