Are Meftal-P And Crocin The Right Medicines For Fever In Children?

My 18month old daughter is sufferring from fever at regular intervals. She gets a temperature of 101-103 reguarly. She was suggested to be given Meftal-P when the temperature is above 102 and Crocin when less than 102. Also, she was suggested to take Calmpkid forte suspension.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Your Pediatrician must have thought of the Meftal-P and Crocin to be given as per the conditions he must have seen.

Both the medicines are correct and correctly given above 102°F and below 102°F, respectively.

The reason to give Meftal-P when the temperature of your child is above 102°F is that at high levels there are two medicines in Meftal-P, a combination of Mefenemic acid and Paracetamol. This will have double action so that the temperature is made to come under control fast.

So, both are right medicines and give the baby the medicine as per the temperature as advised by your Doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,

Dr. T Chandrakant
