I had my LMP on 8th Sep 2013 , during pregnancy test on 14th Oct the strip showed faint T line. The doctor said it is better to go for trans varginal scan on 46th day. Now I have swelling & heavy pain on my upper abdominal region .My doctor refered me Ampiclox 250 mg & Emanzen-D for 5 days both morning & night after food. Also she gave me Duphaston 10 mg for 30 days at night. Kindly confirm whether these drugs are safe during pregnanacy.

Hi,
Ampiclox contains Ampicillin and Cloxacillin and is a category B drug, i.e., it can be used when it is absolutely needed and there is no evidence of fetal risk in animal studies. Emanzen-D is a category C drug and therefore is better avoided. Duphaston is safe in pregnancy. Local applications may be preferred for pain relief as no analgesic is considered to be absolutely safe in early pregnancy (teratogeneic period). Hope your query is answered. Wish you good health.
