Ankle Sprain, Walking With Brace, Painful. X-ray Shows No Broken Bones. How Long To Wear Brace?

Hi Dr.I sprained my ankle last Tuesday..We went to the ER,they took x-rays and said there are no broken bones..am thankful for that..right now am able to walk with a brace on..but it still hurts a little..I had a lot of swelling before,but it has subsided completely..how long I should wear the brace and walk?how long it needs to heal?

hi
from your above escription it looks like you have first degree sprain. its best to continue to have brace and to have very little movement. restrict movement for atleast ten days. wear the brace for atleast 20 days. giving some rest to your ankle will hasten your recovery.
