Ankle Injury, Pain And Swelling, Burning Sensation

I fell on my ankle bone a few days ago and it hurts by night time and swells, but now I m getting a burning sensation . I actually lost my balance and fell over to the right which is making my right ankle swell.. I just want to let you know it was not a hard fall, I more or less rolled with the fall but I am 65 so I may have weak bones..

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hello,

Thanks for posting your query.

It might be ankle sprain or fracture.

Without X-ray, it is difficult to differentiate a fracture from others. I suggest you to consult an orthopaedician nearby for a detailed examination. You may get the X-ray of the area affected under his/her guidance.

In the interim, ice the affected area and take anti-inflammatory drug like mortin to reduce pain and inflammation. Avoid putting weight and rest well.

Regards.
