Should I Visit A Doctor For Severe Shoulder Pain After Basketball Practice?

After basketball practice yesterday, my shoulder has been feeling very painful and weak. Today it’s been in even more pain with weakness, for example, when I lift my shoulder it hurts like crazy, and also when I open my car door, it took all my strength in that arm to open it. Is there something serious going on? Thanks

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be a simple musculoskeletal pain.
As first line management you can take analgesics like paracetamol or aceclofenac for pain relief.
If symptoms persist better to consult an orthopedic and get evaluated.
In severe cases you can consider for an MRI scan.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
