Abdominal Pain, Diarrhea, Bloating. Have Diabetes And CRPS, Fatty Liver. Labs Show High AST, ALT. Reason?

Hello. I have been having upper left to middle abdominal pain and episodes of intermittent diarrhea. I am a diabetic on Metformin and also have CRPS and am on Methadone for pain control. Recen lab work shows a mild elevation of AST and ALT along with Alkaline Phosphatase. I had had my gallbladder removed about 6 years ago. I am afebrile. Other symptos are bloating and just feeling sluggish. Thank you for any insight you can offer. My internist just keeps saying lets just watch this. He has suggested I have mild fatty liver. I am mildy obese- 5'3" tall and weigh 160.

Hello,
You have essentially two problems.
1st you are having intermittent diarrhoea and there can be various reasons for this like due to consumption of metformin, diabetic auto neuropathy,IBS,infective diarhhea. You need to consult a gastroenterologist for proper evaluation of cause and then treatment.
2nd mild elevation of liver enzymes and fatty live.
There are various reasons for this but there are two mportant causes in you which is resulting in elevation of liver enzymes. These are obesity and diabetes.Once these are controlled, you should be all right.
Thanks
