3 Year Son, Severe Coughing, Bleeding In Nose. Taking Light Medication. Recommendations?
Hello, I have 3 year old son, he's been coughing for the last 4 days, has no fever. I've recently been giving him Panamax. He doesn't like the taste of any children pain killer, so I always have to mix it with his fruit juice (apple). Lately his nose keeps bleeding since giving him Panamax and I'm getting a little worried that I'm doing something wrong. Any advise ?
If he is bleeding through one nostril, the cause should certainly be local. A careful examination should be done to exclude either a simple irritation of the nasal mucosa, a polyp that could cause bleeding in certain cases, and to be sure there is no occult bleeding in the other nostril that is not externalize.
Rare conditions like hemophilia and low platelets should always be borne in mind, but are very very unlike ly in this particular case. A local condition should be at the origin and a careful clinical examination should be sufficient to identify this condition.
