3 Months Old Baby. Is Poliomyelitis And Rotarix Vaccine Safe To Give On The Same Day?

My baby is 3 months 2 days today. Does Poliomyelitis and Rotarix is safe in same day? As both are live live vaccine and does not suggested to take before 4 weeks duration. Moreover Rotarix is suggested to take its first dose within 14 weeks 6 days. So, can I give these two (Poliomyelitis- 3rd dose & Rotarix-1st dose) in same day. If yes, which one should give first? Please suggest. Thanks.

Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

Oral polio and Oral Rotarix can be given on the same day.

There are no associated interactions with the two vaccines if they are given on same day.

Two live injectable vaccines can be given on same day or there should be at least 4 weeks gap between the two injections.

You can give the both vaccines on the same day and there is no sequence for giving them.

You can give Rotarix at present and the second dose after 1 month, so the Rotarix schedule will be completed within 24 weeks of life.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.

Pediatrician Dr. Y V Siva Sankara Murty's  Response
Hi,

Thanks for writing to health care magic.

Let me congratulate you for vaccinating your baby.

Yes you can give both those vaccines on the same day.

There is no problem giving them on the same day and it is routinely given on the same day. Since your baby is less than 14 weeks and 6 days you can give rotarix also. The last dose should be completed before 32 weeks of age.

There is no issue of which is given first. Any of them can be given first and the other afterwards.

Continue to ask further queries as required.
Hope this helps.
Take care.
