medication was never stopped.but I became dependent on Xanax and I had a withdrawl for stopping the Xanax without consulting the doctor. My question to you is what happens to a person after he becomes dependent to a BZD or what sort of treatment is available?

Answered by Dr. Shubham Mehta (10 hours later)
Brief Answer:
Replacing with a longer acting BZD.

Detailed Answer:
In case of BZD dependence, there are two treatment approaches.

One is to taper down the dose slowly.

Second is to substitute the shorter acting BZD with longer acting BZD like Diazepam and the reduce the dose of longer acting BZD gradually.

In you case, xanax can be replaced with valium (prescription drug) and then valium can be tapered off.

Hope this helps.
Thanks.

what underline ailment can cause anxiety?

Answered by Dr. Shubham Mehta (16 hours later)
Brief Answer:
Acts within 1 hour

Detailed Answer:
The action of clonazepam starts within 1 hour. In a sense, it is a fast acting benzo.

Almost any medication condition can cause anxiety, more commonly thyroid disorders, anemia, fluctuating blood sugar levels, fluctuating blood pressure, cardiac conditions etc.

Have you been under treatment for any of the medical conditions?

Thanks.

why don't my clonazepam works even at higher dose that prescribed?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Shubham Mehta (21 hours later)
Brief Answer:
Severe symptoms

Detailed Answer:
It may be due to severity of symptoms.

Or it may be due to cross tolerance to benzos. You were taking Xanax earlier but still had symptoms of anxiety. An equivalent dose of clonazepam might not work for you.

So, higher doses would be needed.

Thanks.
