Since you didnot mention any mucous or fever, I will suggest that you simply try strepsil lozenges that work locally in throat. If that does not help then a cough suppressant lozenge can be sucked when the cough is bad upto 3-4 times a day. For example XXXXXXX Chericof or Kofarest lozenge. Dextromethorpan in cough suppressants can make you dizzy.

Alternative would be syrup like BENLYLIN syr.
