Hello there,
Welcome to 'Ask A Doctor' service...
I've gone through your query in details...

Well, you're partially right, even if there's any malignancy, further delay can only prolong its course as well as chances of complications.

However, even in the case of month-long waiting, certain other investigations should be done as a priority and part of baseline assessments namely: a Hemogram, LFT, KFT, Urine culture and sensitivity as well as PT/INR, aPTT, followed by a USG KUB. Not only this will fasten the biopsy procedure, but also will point out any associated complaints, if at all there.

Another option would be the ER. Now, in the ER, although Biopsy won't be done, if you have any other associated symptoms (eg. a heavy amount of blood in urine, severe pain abdomen, sudden inability to pass urine) then they may give the referral to the Urologist on an urgent basis and after the check-up, you can discuss on getting the biopsy done after briefing this relevant history).

Now, it may or may not be cancer at all. But given your family history, and this PSA reading, I would head out to insist on pushing the date a bit earlier, or seek another opinion of a different Urologist at another institute to get the biopsy done earlier.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take Care
Kind Regards
