Brief Answer:
Detailed explanation below

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

There is an area at the wrist, that is darker then the rest of the skin that might look like a bruise. The history will help determine better if it is a bruise or not: for how long has it been there, does it hurt when you touch, do you remember to have poket it or hit it against something? Do you have similar findings in other areas of your body? Bruises in the hands and legs are very common, is there a specific reason this is of special concern to you?

If the darker area has been there for longer than 10 days then it is less likely it is a bruise.

I hope I have answered to your question but let me know if I can assist you further.

Kind regards,

Antoneta Zotaj

Brief Answer:
This depends on the instrument you suspect, shape and mechanism how it might have hurt you

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

The cause of the dark spot depends on a few factors. If it is there for longer then 10 days then it is not a bruise. On the other hand, if an instrument (or any other object) has hurt the area and lacerated the skin (opening of the skin) when it heals it may create a darker area in long-term (after it has healed).

There is no information mentioned on which instrument you are suspecting and how it might have hurt you and also no information on how long this dark area has been there if it hurts or not and how has it progressed (how did it start and how it is progressing). If it is an instrument causing the darker area or not depends on the kind of instrument, shape and possible mechanism of the trauma. It may be an instrument, it may not be, depending on which instrument and a possible way how it might have hurt you.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Brief Answer:
It might be caused by a door handle, however, it is unlikely to contract HIV in this way

Detailed Answer:
Hello again,

It may be caused by a door handle, the size of the dark area and the location can be justified with a trauma from the handle.

To get HIV you have to be in contact with infected human fluids like blood semen, vaginal secretions, etc and your skin has to be lacerated. If no laceration happened and no contact with infected human fluids as mentioned above it is impossible to get HIV.

So, in my opinion, there is no reason to worry about HIV from a bruise or trauma with the handle of a door.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Brief Answer:
There is no chance of getting HIV this way

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I checked your pictures and I am not able to notice any abrasion.
Even if the hand had abrasions you have to be in contact with human fluids infected with HIV so it is impossible to get HIV from just a touch.

I would say that there is nothing to worry of HIV with this history you are prescribing. If you have had unprotected intercourse with an casual partner then it is most likely you are at risk and in this case you should have HIV test done.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Brief Answer:
It is less likely HIV infection to remain quiet for 20 years, on the other hand having the HIV test will say for sure weather the patient is infected.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

HIV can be encountered by an unprotected intercourse if the partner is infected. Even in these cases the transmission rate is not 100% but is considerable. The period from being infected with HIV till a patient shows symptoms can vary considerably with an average of 10 years, this means that it might take an average of 10 years from infection till symptoms appear. It is very uncommon for a patient to be infected with HIV and be asymptomatic for 20 years so i would say that if your friend is not having any symptoms of HIV or any complaint very likely he did not contract HIV during that encounter.

On the other hand, even though chances are very low that he might be asymptomatic for 20 years after infection, the only way to know for sure is to have the HIV test. I would recommend him to have the HIV test just to rule it out and have peace of mind.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hello,

Yes it is normal having night sweats and swollen glands once in a while and also having stomach pain or running stomach. It does not mean he is having HIV.
Normal blood count does not rule out HIV though so if your friend is worried about HIV he can have the test and have peace of mind.

Hello,

If he had a positive rapid HIV test he needs a HIV confirmatory test. If the confirmatory test comes out positive then he very likely has HIV. The fact that CBC is normal does not rule out he has HIV, it means he is not having active form. If he develops infection in most cases normally WBC count should go up but with HIV it may not change or may even go down.
