Brief Answer:
carrier status asymptomatic, need some extra attention as below.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor services.
I have read your query and here is my advise.

* As per my clinical experience, many of the thalessemia carriers remain
asymptomatic or have mild anemia and do not pose major issues through
out life.

Here are some general guidelines for your query

- Thalessemia is an inherited disorder due to transfer of mutated
thalessemia gene from parent or parents.
- Depending upon the career status of parents, child manifest accordingly to
probability criteria of inheritence.
- In your case as wife is not carrier, your child is not going to become
thalessemia major any any point of time in life.

- Routine presentation is mild anemia, fatigue after exercises in some cases
and many of them even do not notice for rest of life also.
- Care must be practised to her checked regularly to the pediatrician for
complete blood count evaluation as advise by individual consultant.
Certain consultants do prescribe folic acid to support iron formation in
some individuals but not every one requires.

- She should definitely avoid very high iron containing items such as beef
broccoli, dates, spinach, prunes, prune juices, raisins particularly.
- She should undergo regular vaccination schedules as per the current WHO
guidelines.

* Over all, there are general guidelines to be followed with avoidance of
panic at parental level.

Still, I would like to discuss further points as per your desire particularly in this matter ahead.

Wish your kid happy, healthy life.
Regards.
