If it is severe a short course of prescription based oral antifungals like tablet Terbinafine 250 mg once daily or capsule Itraconazole 100 mg once daily can be taken for 3-4 weeks.
For symptomatic relief, a lotion containing steroid antifungal combination like Clotrimazole and Beclomethasone can be applied on the affected areas once or twice daily for 3-4 weeks.
