Brief Answer:
Initial treatment proton pump inhibitors with lifestyle modifications

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome,

It is highly likely gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). In GERD lover esophageal sphincter does not function properly and gastric content with gastric acid refluxes into the esophagus causing heartburn.
Initial treatment is medication along with lifestyle modifications.

Medical treatment includes Omeprazole or Lansoprazole oral tablets (proton pump inhibitors) which reduce gastric acid secretion.

You should try to lose weight if obese, avoid caffeine, nicotine, chocolate, or any spicy food that may increase the acidity of your stomach and avoid alcohol. Sleep in a bed with a pillow elevating your head 6 to 8 inches and avoid eating within 3 hours before bedtime.

Please visit your Doctor if the heartburn is present more than 5 years, if you have weight loss, difficulty with swallowing or any signs of anemia (easy fatigability, pallor, loss of energy). You should have an endoscopic evaluation in such cases.

I hope I have answered your question. Please, feel free to ask me if there is anything else you need to know. I will be happy to help you further.

Thank you.
