I have never had a period that has lasted this long before. I only have 2/3 periods a year. I have not been sexually active for nearly 3 years. No signs of infection. Any ideas what could be causing the bleeding?

Hello,
Thanks for writing back.
In the current scenario, I would like to know if you have got your hormone profile and pelvic ultrasound done.
Hormone imbalance which is the most likely cause of the problem is likely to arise from thyroid disorders, PCOD, pituitary gland problems, stress, weight changes, cysts on the ovaries, certain medications etc.
Coagulation profile is also needed to exclude abnormal profile as the cause.
Please get proper evaluation and plan further management.
Hope you find this information helpful. Please let me know if I can assist you further.

Is 8.5mm normal for a endometrial thickness when you are still bleeding?
Brief Answer:
Detailed below.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for writing again.
While the bleeding is occurring, endometrial shedding is happening and therefore, the thickness is reduced. So, it is more.
Please upload reports if you have any.
Hope this helps. Please feel free to contact for further clarifications. I will be happy to help.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing again.
I have gone through the attached report and would like to offer some suggestions.
There is no local pathology noted in the sonogram and this suggests a possible hormonal imbalance. I suggest that you get the hormone profile and coagulation profile.
Please also get evaluated clinically by a gynecologist. Further management can be planned accordingly.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if you need anything else.
