Well yes, magnesium supplementation will certainly be helpful for the muscle cramping and tightness in the calves. Please also drink a lot of water and electrolyte-rich fluids (i.e. Coconut water, Gatorade etc) throughout the day.

If despite this the symptoms persist then I'd suggest getting evaluated by your physician and get a few investigations done (i.e. Serum Calcium, Magnesium, Potassium, Urea, creatinine, FBS, PPBS, HbA1C, Vitamin D3 and B-12 levels) to look into it further.
