Why Is It That My Blood Pressure Jumps High When
Question: Why is it that my blood pressure jumps high when I go to the doctor? Today I as to have a skin cancer removed through Mohs and he almost did not do the procedure because my bp went to 158/110 ..why does procedures affect me and is it dangerous to go that high? Tonight at home my blood pressure is 115/84! Every time I go to the doc office my blood pressure soars.. is this in stroke range? What can I do to lower it?? If I take bp meds all the time it drops too low..what can I do??

Hello dear. Welcome to ask a doctor. I understand your concern. So This type of phenomenon in which blood pressure of patient rises on visiting a doctor is known as white collar hypertension. peculiar is this , that it is not permanent and soon comes to normal.
Only treatment for this is to do some relaxation exercises prior visiting doctor and to make yourself as comfortable as you can. Otherwise you can try some anti-anxiety medicines.

So can it be real dangerous? Can I have permanent damage from this? I took some anti anxiety meds to bring it down so I could have the procedure..but I can not take meds without bringing my bp too low.. thanks again!!
I can not take blood pressure meds without bringing it to low.. is it ok to take anti anxiety meds for short term uses like these?
