Why Have I Been Having Pain In My Left Big Toe Joint And Left Knee Pain That Radiates Through My Thigh, Left Testicle And My Left Thumb?

Question: I have been having pain in my left big toe joint, my left knee that radiates through my thigh and left testicle and my left thumb. I'm also having eye problems in my left eye that required shots to reduce the inflammation. I am still having distorted vision problems in the left eye. I saw my ophthalmologist yesterday and he said the inflammation was much better but that my macula is very wavy. I have read that high levels of uric acid for a long period can effect the eye. Is this a possibility in my case and if yes what can I do?

Brief Answer:
Gout affects eyes in rare cases.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Nodules called tophi can develop under the skin, in the cartilages of the ear, or the connective tissues around the joints (ligaments, tendons) and other organs. This stage is uncommon if the condition is treated early with medication and dietary changes.

Although this condition affects primarily the joints, it is possible that the uric acid excess can build in other tissues as well, including the eyes.
Eye complications are periorbital mass especially deposits of tophi in various locations (in the conjunctiva, cornea, iris, sclera , lens and other eye tissues) , the formation of transparent vesicles and bleeding in the subconjunctival space) and vascular changes.

Hope I have answered the question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Brief Answer:
Regarding Gout medications.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

The gout is treated with allopurinol and Febuxostat (a group of Xanthine oxidase inhibitors) that limit the amount of uric acid your body makes.

Also, your doctor may prescribe medications like Probenecid and Lesinurad group of uricosurics that improve uric acid removal by improving the ability of kidneys to remove uric acid from your body.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
