Brief Answer:
Conditions with the increased risk of bleeding are contraindications

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for sharing your concerns with us. We will try to help you in the best way possible.

Based on the query you have shared, yes as warfarin makes the blood thinner by blocking some clotting factors it may increase risk of bleeding and in some diseases where a person is predisposed to risk of easy bleeding like recent trauma, surgery, or certain diseases where blood can't clot properly in such conditions warfarin isn't given.

Similarly, it's not safe during pregnancy too. Other conditions where follow up to have regular tests to see blood thinning with INR and PT if no available or follow up isn't easy warfarin isn't usually given and another alternative like Rivaroxaban is used instead.

Many drugs are not safe to be used with warfarin as those can increase chances of its toxicity. These include antibiotics like ciprofloxacin, macrolides and antifungal as well certain antacids etc so a professional guidance and regular follow up is a must.

Hope this has answered your query.
If you have any more questions please feel free to ask.
Regards.

Brief Answer:
Yes, in many regards

Detailed Answer:
Yes, in many aspects it's better and also it's safer having lesser interactions with foods and other drugs.

Also no strict follow up with INR monitoring is needed. Its mechanism is also superior.
