default
Posted on Thu, 22 Feb 2024
Question: When is herpangina in an adult not contagious for her baby? It has been 11 days since onset of first tymptoms and now the red rimmed lesions in the mouth seem to be improving a little each day. She only got 1 spot on her foot and none on hands. Thank You

Brief Answer:
People with herpangina are more contagious for the first 7 days

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

My name is Dr.Dorina Gurabardhi.

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.
People with herpangina are more contagious for the first 7 days or the first week of the infection.
During this period they can also be asymptomatic.
The virus is highly contagious during this period.

Some of transmission ways are:
-coughing, sneezing
-contaminated surfaces
-unwashed hands

Anyway based on the fact that have passed 11 days from the first symptoms I think that the contagious period has passed.

Hope my answer was helpful.
If you have any other questions feel free to contact me again.
Kind regards!
