Question: i just had a ileostomy takedown and my question is when can i exspect my first bowel movement

24 to 78 hours post operatively.

Hi,

Firstly stool that comes from your ileostomy is thin or thick liquid, or it may be pasty. It is not solid like the stool that comes from your colon. You may expect it with in 24 to 72 hours post operatively.

well I had the ileostomy takedown on tues the 7 of august now its the 12 of august and nothing should I be concerned im urinating good and I don't feel bloated or anything like that. I have an appointment with surgeon on Monday the 13th should I go to hospital now or wait until I see doctor
