What Would Heaviness In The Chest, Dizziness, Cough And Fatigue Indicate?

default
Posted on Tue, 30 May 2023
Question: I was in the hospital overnight this past week. I had heaviness in the chest, dizziness, cough and fatigue. I had an echo, ultrasound and nuclear stress test. All were normal, chest X-ray normal except showed an intrathoracic hiatal hernia. Blood work showed no signs of clots or heart attack. I have follow up with my doctor and cardiologist Tuesday. I just don't feel good. Still feel light headed, my blood pressure is a roller coaster from top number being 113 up to 160. Goes up and down but did in hospital as well and nothing was said about it. Fatigue still really bad. Took three naps yesterday. Pupils are very tiny too.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

I would like to tell you that as all your basic screening cardiac tests were normal so it’s almost sure that there is no cardiac issue. Just relax, it’s a positive thing.

Now, hiatus hernias can present with symptoms of heart attack due to their close proximity in the chest. All your symptoms are happening because of hiatus hernia.

It’s advisable that you should take the opinion of a gastroenterologist or a gastric surgeon for proper advise on this.

I hope this information will guide you properly. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Some symptoms are associated ones and cannot be explained directly. Here, the problem was chest discomfort for which you got evaluated and got diagnosed with hiatus hernia. That needs to be addressed first and once it is treated properly, hopefully all your symptoms will subside and if they won’t they further evaluation will be required.

Hope I have been helpful.
