I would explain as follows:

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

I would like to explain that there exists a broad armamentarium that may properly address the issue of high blood pressure.

We have different classes of anti-hypertensive drugs available for such purpose (like ACEIs, ARBs, beta-blockers, calcium channel blockers, thiazides, centrally acting drugs, etc.)

But, before getting to medications, it is necessary to explore the exact range of high blood pressure values, and what is more important to investigate for possible secondary causes of hypertension (considering the young age).

Secondary hypertension may be due to certain organ disorders, like renal, thyroid, adrenal dysfunction, vascular abnormalities, other endocrine disorders, anemia, etc.

Coming to this point you need to check several lab tests:

- complete blood count,
- thyroid hormones level,
- blood electrolytes level,
- liver and renal function tests,
- resting ECG,
- cardiac ultrasound,
- chest X-ray study,
- Fasting blood glucose level,
- HbA1C,
- blood proteins level,
- uric acid, etc.

Considering the fact you are experiencing besides hypertension also limbs edema, it is necessary for performing a differential diagnosis between heart failure, renal or liver insufficiency, hypoproteinemia, etc.

Coming to this point, it is advisable reviewing your cardiac function by means of cardiac ultrasound and natriuretic peptides (BNP, NT-proBNP).

You should discuss with your attending doctor on the above-mentioned issues.

Hope to have been helpful to you!
