Question: Hi

I'm not sure if I've torn my rotator cuff or have another issue causing my arm to feel numb/dead from shoulder to elbow. no strength in arm, unable to lift it over head and backwards. pain is constant. I believe this initially was caused by a throwing motion but days later a very loud crack in my neck caused much pain and numbness all the way to my hand

also find that laying down especially while sleeping causes much pain, mornings waking up is when pain is most acute

Brief Answer:
Pinched nerve suspected

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Evaluating the symptoms you describe you may be suffering from a pinched nerve (compressed or inflamed). It can be a result of a herniated disk due to trauma or wear and tear injury in your neck.
I recommend you to do
* An X-ray, CT scan or MRI of the neck to see the injury
* Continue with anti-inflammatories you are taking also can take Advil or Naproxen
* Your doctor may do steroid injections at injury site to relieve inflammation
* You can benefit from physical therapy so can visit a physiotherapists

Hope I have answered the question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
