Questions and answers on "Herniated disk"

Can a herniated disk in the lumbar 4,5 cause problem with the gallbladder not releasing bile and having a sluggish colon and ICV symptoms...or would/could an enlarged prostrate be the cause ?

Would too much coffee, deplete the zinc reserves nd cause this domino effect ?

Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.

Herniated disk or enlarged prostate does not cause stasis of bile in gall bladder. IT can be due to some obstruction by stone or mass or stricture in bile pathway. So you should go for further investigation to search the...

I have been diagnosed with a herniated disk and have two steroid shots over the last year, the disk herniation I believe has been getting worse and i am having another mri to confirm, but over the past few days i have had green stools could that be contributed to my back pain

doctor1 MD

Hi.

Thanks for your query.

Noted the history and understood the concerns.
Green stools are definitely indicative of an intestinal infection unless proved otherwise.
Hence I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Get the stool tests done as it will help you to get the proper diagnosis...

I only had a herniated disk from 9 yrs ago in my lower back. I had a MRI done on saturday. It says L3/4 and L4/5 both have mild disk space narrowing with partial dehydration of the disk. L3/4 is more to the left. L 4/5 is seen centrally. Now i was recently in a car accident. Where did this other herniated disk come from? I only had one. And also in my neck C 5/6 level, i have a herniated disk there as well. Could that have happened from my car accident?

doctor1 MD

Hello,
Welcome at HCM.

I have red your question completely.

It looks that you are troubled from finding of MRI.

You should not worry from finding of MRI scan until unless you have severe symptoms.

The disc prolapse can be there due to injury ,lifting heavy weight ,bending in abnormal...

Hi, I want to know if I can alter my dosage of lyrica, been taking it for nerve pain from sciatica due to a herniated disk in the lower back, taking 150 grams in morning and same at night. want to get off it, it works but, do not want the foggy brain and weight gain, gained 10 pounds

doctor1 MD

hi,
It all depends on your pain threshold and will power.
here is the way to taper it. If you can tolerate, make it 75-150 mg for a week, then 75-75 mg for another week, finally 75 mg at night may be continued as it is the least, but still effective dose with little side effects.
All the...

bulging disk at the base of her neck, pain in arm and hand. my wife started suffering from what turned out to be, at least, a bulging disk at the base of her neck about six years ago. this eventually became visible (bulging out of her neck) and began causing severe nerve pain, mostly in her right arm and hand. ct scans show 2 herniated disks somewhere in the "c" section of her spine. she was put on darvacet (sp?), they ran tests, and eventually began giving her fluoroguide shots monthly. of course, she's been given the general diagnosis that if therapy and injections don't work, surgery is the only other option. so, now the pain is spreading to her right leg. it seems to be getting worse. would surgery provide any real relief? is she getting the best advice?

Is it possible that taking Claritin contributed to the weakening of the walls of the disks in my spinal column? I have a herniated disk and wondered if taking Claritin for a year( with the dehydration that comes with the medication) could have caused the herniation.

I was just diagnosed with diabetes type 2 yesterday at the ER. I am also under the care of Neurologist for seizures. I have degenerative disk disease and herniated disks. I take medication for high blood pressure and for panic attacks. I have been trying so hard for the past 2 years to get off as many perscriptions as possible. I want to be a productive adult again and the meds have prevented me from doing that and the conditions have most certainly kept me from doing the simplest tasks and functioning on an acceptable level. I take Altenolol (100 mg) p/d, Chappra (1000 mg ) p/d, Hydrocodone (10 mg) up to 4x p/d, Clonazapam (1 mg) up to 3x p/d, Tizanidine (4 mg) I m supposed to take that every 8 hours but never take more than one a day at bedtime, I also take Benadryl at night to help with the constant Austin Allergies. I am wanting to know the TRUTH about these drugs taken together and these drugs listed above taken with Metformin HCL (500 mg) 2x p/d. Please just shoot it straight with me.
